NuCamp TAB 320 S tour

Updated: May 26, 2022

We are looking at the NuCamp Tab campers with indoor toilets. The first stop was the NuCamp Tab 400. There are 2 versions of the 320, the CS-S and the S. The CS-S has an outdoor kitchen and the S has an indoor kitchen.

Need a recap of what we are doing?

Bree is helping her Aunt Jane find a travel trailer for herself so she can camp with our family.

Jane's key features are

  • Fixed Bed

  • Less than 3500 lbs GVWR

  • Bathroom with flush toilet

  • Compact

  • Dining table

  • Indoor kitchen

You can see a video walkthrough of the nuCamp TAB 320 S here:

nuCamp makes several tear drop trailers, including 2 320 models, the 320 S has an indoor kitchen. The one we are looking at has the boondock package which adds higher clearance, and off-road tires.

The layout for the TAB 320 S

ree

The Tab 320 has a wet bath and sleep 2. The convertible bed is a square, wider but shorter than a Queen bed, at 71" x 72” and you can set it up in multiple ways including having one side as a bed and one side as a seating area.

The Tab 320 S is 15 feet 3 inches long with a dry weight of ~1946 lbs and a max weight of 2900 lbs. It has a 19 gal fresh water tank, 18 gal grey tank and a 5 gal black tank in the cassette toilet. This is 7 feet 8 inches tall so it is probably not quite going to fit in a standard garage (many are 7 feet tall) but you might get lucky and have a taller opening in your garage.

The exterior has a a rail where you can slide on an awning. Most of these will come with the convenience package which includes roof mounted solar panels, air conditioning and several other features. It also has an exterior shower built into the nautilus water management system.

Straight in the door you will see the kitchen area which has a small 2.1 cu ft fridge that is electric only, it runs on battery or shore power. There is a 2 burner cooktop and sink as well as some cabinets for storage. There is also some small overhead storage.

This has the same small wet bath as the Tab CS-S. The interior of this is 5 feet 9 inches at the highest point so the bathroom is pretty short. However, it is going to get the job done in a very compact space. It even has a sink!

You get quite a bit of storage in something this small. You also get small shelves along the sides and 2 decent sized cabinets in the back as well as some storage that runs down the back of the rear. There is a microwave option but if you opted to not have that, you could have an additional cabinet in its place. You might be able to fit some things in the storage under the bench, though your water heater, AC and heater are also sharing space under there. There is no access to storage from the outside.

The bed sets up with sliding panels that pull out from the bench seats, which is pretty nice because then you don’t have to have a separate piece for the bed. You can set the bed up so that you can sleep one person and keep the other side as a seat. I wish the lagun mount for the table was a little further to one side because then you could do this and keep the table up as well, as it its, if you want the bed this way, you would have to slide the table off.

You gain 20 inches in this model compared to the CS-S which makes the bed 5 feet 9 inches long for sleeping - a bit more reasonable in my opinion. When set up for 2 you sleep front to back so you won’t have to climb over each other but if you are tall, you will be sleeping on a diagonal a bit. Reminder this bed is 71" x 72" so almost a square, a standard queen or king bed is 80 inches long.

Jane and I were both really curious about the cassette toilet. Basically, the black tank in this is hand emptied, so you don’t empty a black tank like you would into a sewer portal with a hose. You remove this little suitcase thing, with wheels!, and drag it to the dump station or outhouse. I kind of like this because it lets you use the toilet even if you can’t find a dump station.

Quick pros and cons

Pros
  • Compact and efficient

  • There are lots of interior storage cabinets

  • Small but functional bathroom.

Cons
  • Short inside, the max ceiling height is 5' 9"

  • Tiny bathroom, you would probably have to sit to shower if you are over 5’5"

  • Surprisingly heavy for something this small. It is 1000 lbs heavier than our trailer (Alto F1743)

I liked this and I think Jane did too! There is still more to look at before she decides, so subscribe to catch us next time!

About Us

PXL_20210707_184050981.jpeg

We are a busy family who wants to help you get outside and have an adventure. A scientist by training, Bree got interested in travel trailers while we were searching for ours (Ben might call it an obsession). Whatever you call it, that research turned into this website when Bree realized that maybe someone else would listen to her talk about travel trailers! We both love to cook but Ben has mastered the art of organizing our meals and is excited to share those tips here.
